Why your credit is important

Did you know that your credit score can help or hurt you when you get ready to buy a car, purchase a home/apartment, or pay the interest on your credit card?  When a company wants to check to see if you are a good credit risk, they pull your credit report. This report tells them things like, where you work, do you pay your bills on time, if you have been arrested, or filed bankruptcy to name a few.

Did you also know that you can go and look at your credit report to see if there are any potential problems that you need to address?  You sure can! There are three credit companies you can request this from - Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion and they are free, as long as you only request it once a year.  You might even consider spacing them out - maybe request one at the first of the year, one at the half way point of the year, and one towards the end of the year.  This way, hopefully, you can catch anything that may have crept up during the year.
